D-Word Series Part 43: The Bad Wife

Play for the Audio Version

I know! Doesn't seeing those words put together look kinda odd? Well, I don't know. It just depends on the person reading this I guess.

I mean the words " Bad & Wife?" I only say that because they have stuff like that 1 TV show, "The Good Wife" Now, I'm thinking, this. When people hear the word wife? They generally do not associate it with the word, bad. Right? Well, again it depends on the person and situation. Hence, I say generally.

Well, at least that's what I see when I hear about wives. Wives are good, submissive to their husbands, the ones that keep cleanliness, order, and making sure their homes are kept up to be presentable to the public. Homes are kept hospitable!

OK, those are definitely some things that come to mind after hearing the word wife. According to the word of God, He gives a pretty well thought out description of his meaning of a wife!

Now, I think the million dollar question is this. Well, 1st of all if you are a wife? This question pertains to you. Fellow wife, ask yourself are you ,following the Lord of how he would like wives to be?

I don't know about you guys. But, I know I'm not. Well, at least not all of the time! Lol Like, how I am calling myself out there?

Seriously, is any wife considered a good wife? All of the time? That is.
By the way, thanks to my hubby, Joe, for reassuring me once in a blue moon, of my positive attributes. It's nice to be shocked by Joe every now and then, once in a Blue Moon with him saying how beautiful I am, creative, faithful, loyal. And, other fun things that are nice to hear for encouragement.

Now, I'm thinking about the wife of Job! He was the most faithful man mentioned in the Bible. God told Satan about his servant Job and how faithful he was! Then, Satan said let me mess with him! Then, let's see how faithful he really is!

So, Satan totally went due on what he said. He messed with Job! And, messed with Job bad!

Job's material things for leisure and activity were taken away. Job's family was taken away from him. Even Job's body
was being totally destroyed! He had boils and stuff. And, there was much more other stuff that happened to him. However, that is alI I can think of for now.

Isn't that enough to make you go crazy?Probably, right? But, not Job!

Despite, all the crap, he had to go through... DESPITE, Job knowing that God was allowing all the pain he had to go through... Job still remained faithful!

Wow, I know! I was thinking kind of the same thing. Maybe, he was on drugs? You're right, I do always say with God anything is possible. So, we really don't know for sure. However, there is no mention of that in the Bible so..... Back to the writing.

OK, now, let's go back and see what we already know. There is a man named Job.
He was blessed with many riches and other things. When, all of the sudden All h*** broke loose for Job. This man lost everything except for his wife. And, yet he was still praising God despite losing everything.

Deep Thoughts?

All this man, Job, had left was his wife. We don't know why, but despite all the hardships that this man went through? He just kept on praising God! He wanted to remain faithful!

Now,  the wife of Job, totally
diseespected his wishes. She says this. "Curse
God and die."

Spoiler alert! I'm about to say the ending of what happened in Job's life. So, if you would like to read it for yourself in the book of Job in the Bible, go right ahead. I actually suggest that you do that because I'm just paraphrasing. But, if you read it you will get a more detailed description. And, it is quite an awesome story!

In closing, how exactly does the "bad wife" fit well with my D-Word Series? Well, as I said before God does not like divorce. But, hes not going to control what you do. Meaning, if you guys want to get a divorce? Then. you're probably gonna get a divorce. Remember, God does give us free will.

I'm just trying to make you guys see this. Your husband will not want a bad wife. A bad wife is a wife that doesn't respect her husband.

Now, I'm only going by memory.  So, I may be totally off. I may totally add or
subtract some detail from his story. So don't, please do not quote what I say.

OK, within
time, Job did get his life back together kinda.  Again, I want to throw out this disclaimer. I am just going by memory. So, please excuse me if I add or subtract some detail from the story. I believe Job stayed with his wife.

Job was able to get  more kids. Not sure about his material possessions. The Bible doesn't really mention too much of the ending of Job's life.   I think there are 2 important points from his story. And, those are 1st his faith and desire to praise God despite his hardships. And, Fellow wives, we must try to respect our husband
especially when they're already feeling down.  Why do you want to keep them down when they already fell?

1 Peter 3:7

Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

1 Corinthians 7:3-5

The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

Ephesians 5:33

However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

Ephesians 5:25

Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,

Ephesians 5:22-24

Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.

Ephesians 5:31

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”

Hebrews 13:4

Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.

Ephesians 5:22

Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.

1 Corinthians 7:2

But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband
