Apology Series Part 6: Blame

Play for Audio Version

I'm thinking that there is a pretty large sum of people who do this. And, definitely I knoww that I, myself is included, when it comes to those Deep Thoughts. I mean why is it like that? ( rhetorical question)

When the person who did wrong is called out for what they did? Why isn't their initial thought or instinct to just say, "I'm sorry?" It usually is not right? Nope, I don't think it is.

Unfortunately, some of us immediately have the face of someone else in our mind. Someone else that we can put the blame on. Sometimes this person does not even have anything to do with the situation. Sometimes they do. However, we really know who is the real cause for the bad deed.

Friends, are you the one that should be carrying the blame? Oh, you know you are. However, our own enemy within ourselves is stopping us from just saying sorry. I am talking about our flawed, sinful, human flesh.

I am thinking that most if not all of you heard about this. Yeah, I am talking about the fall of man. The story of Adam-and-Eve.

Let's look back at the story. God called Adam out for disobeying him. What did he say and do?  I will tell you what he did not say or do. There's no mention of him saying the words I am sorry.

Adam immediately started to play the blame game. He blamed God for creating Eve. Really? God-created Eve because he did not want him to be alone. God said it wasn't good for man to be alone. So God-created Eve for Adam because he loved him.

But, when Adam said it was because of Eve.  talked to Eve, she decided to continue on with the blame game. She blamed the serpent.

Um, newsflash guy and girl! The only person you guys have to blame is yourself! Nobody put a gun to your head. Well, I don't think guns were created yet but you know exactly what I mean.

So, time to swallow your pride. Well, that is if you have any. Stop trying to figure out who you can blame. Start, pointing the finger on yourself. Did you physically do the deed. If so? Then stop what you are doing. And, go to the person you affected and Apologize.

Perhaps, now would be a good time to speak about different apology languages. And, exchange one another's preferred ways of apologizing. If that is not a good time? Then, you better schedule and set away time to talk about your loved ones preferred way of apologizing. And, make sure you share with your loved ones how you would like your apology as well. This stuff helps. :)

Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things.
