Finishing

Play for the Audio Version

I really do have a problem with what I am about to speak about. That, which is this. "Forgetting what lies behind." When what we should do is this. "Set our hearts on the prize. Always keeping our eyes on our Lord. Jesus. We're running the race to win all the way to the end. Laying down every sin that will seek to hinder us. And, we'll be faithful to our calling. For you are able to keep us from falling. For in your promise we will trust we'll be faithful to finish the work you began in us." (We'll be Faithful) by Hosanna Music Album: In Christ Alone.

My friends I could probably give many examples of me being unable to forget what lies behind. Or, even think of other people who choose to be unable to forget what lies behind.

However, I refuse to do that. Nope, I'm not going to do that. I am not going to call myself or other humans out.

I do want to point out this. All we humans have been marred- in his image. And, I have been ruined or disfigured by sin.  So, it really should be no surprise that we people sin. We need to understand that because of the fall of man? AKA Adam and Eve's sin? Sin is now in the world.

So, that is really bad news Right? Right. But, take heart because of Jesus coming into the world and dying for all of us? For those who believe that.

Trust and believe that God has given us eternal life! And, this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life. He who does not and the Son of God does not have life. 1 John 5:11-12.

So, yeah, let me end with some final deep thoughts. So, pretty sure I shared this before. And, I'm gonna share it again. Because I think it goes perfectly with my reading for the day. And, that is this.

As mentioned a couple times in the reading this morning, we humans are all flawed messed up people. We sin at least once a day. I'm sure many more times A-day.

For those of us who have accepted Jesus? He knows we are all sinners. Yet, he still offers all of us his gift of d forgiveness.

I see it like this. We are all on a conveyor belt. When we ask for forgiveness for our sins? We get to Jesus? He fixes us up so we are ready for what the world has to offer us again.

See, in his time when we born again Christian believers we will be face-to-face with Jesus. We will be Perfect. And, off the conveyor belt! That will be one glorious day!

Keep in mind the whole conveyor belt thing i s just me being silly.

Philippians 1:6

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Romans 3:23

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

Romans 6:23

for the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life

1 John 5 11 12

and this is the testimony God has given us eternal life and this life is in his son he has the son has life he who does not Have the Son of God does not have life

Genesis 1:27 ESV

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
