Friends

Play for the Audio Version

Growing up I never really had bad friends. No, Wait I take that back. There was an instance when I was in my early teens and I was not necessarilly with a good crowd.

So, they were still considered to be nice friends. Well, so I thought. I was friends with them right before I met the Lord.

So, I guess at that time, I was not really hanging out with the right crowd. I really was able to see that my group of friends were not necessarily a good group of friends. At least not all the time.

Just reminiscing about it now really makes me feel shocked. Because, people that I used to hang around with back then were a few steps away from the not so good crowd nowadays.

When I think more about it? I really do thank God because yeah, back then I know I didn't hang out with the good crowd. But, thank God because at least the friends I had back then were no where near the "bad crowd" like we see on the news nowadays.

Nowadays? Times are way different from when I was a kid. I am glad that I grew up around the time I grew up. I remember there were gangs but never did I hear of so much of the gang violence like I hear about now.

And, drugs? Yeah drugs were around. The worst I remember was "tripping on acid" " snorting cocaine" " high on weed," shrooms, Glady just told me that in Florida, people used to do stuff with computer cleaners.

I remember when
I was in 7th or 8th grade, There was thiis girl named Heather. Not a friend. More like an acquaintanc

I can't remember if she ever graduated Middle school.
I think she did. However, I don't think she even went to high school. At least not my high school. Or, did she?

I think maybe Sam Should get her yearbooks from the parents house! All that I do remember
about Heather was that she was a loner. She always went to school high. And she was the only white person I knew that didn't hang around other white people.

What about life for me now? Would I say that now I have a "good" group of friends? Yeah, I love my friends. Yeah, some of them know God and some don't know God like I do. But, I still love them!

What about you guys? Who do you choose to spend your free time with? Who do you choose to share your heart with? Do you have friends that are good examples? not not? Why not?

A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother

Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

Oil and perfume make the heart glad, and the sweetness of a friend comes from his earnest counsel.

Faithful are the wounds of a Friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy.
