Get It By Heart

Play for the Audio Version

The focus of today's writing I think is more for the believer in Jesus Christ as Lord. I mean even if you are not a believer in God you are still more than welcome to read the writing.

I'm just trying to think as an unbeliever. What would their logic be? What would they feel about the Bible? The Word of God.

Unbelievers would most likely not want to hear anything about the word of God. And, really what I want to focus my writing on today is getting passages from scripture by heart. In other words, memorizing scripture.

See why I say this is more towards believers? If unbelievers don't even believe in God or believe in the bible? Why would they want to memorize what's in the word of God? Answer is that they probably won't want to do that

So, as I said before only for believers. Why does Sam think we should memorize scripture? I will say that I have some reasons.

The first reason is the word of God can be very comforting to us. No, please pay attention! I said the wof God CAN be very comforting! I did not say that It will be comforting. Memorizing the words of God will n!ot act like a magic potion one should just do if ever feeling such discomfort. Or, any other feeling of negativity.

I also think that it's good to have scripture in your heart because of this. God says in his word he wants us to. And, He gave a perfect example of why we should!

Remember the Bible story of Jesus in the garden? Yeah, the story when Satan was tempting Him. He was using the word of God against Jesus. He was trying to make Jesus sin.

However, it didn't work. The evil one was using the word of God and trying hard to manipulate  Jesus. But, because Jesus did know all of the word of God? He had the perfect response back that put Satan in his place

Jesus knew the Word of God. There are some people, maybe unbelievers that will know some of the words of God. You know. Just in case there is a human Satan out there? ( I Say that because maybe there is a human that will do exactly what Satan did to Jesus.  Maybe someone will be trying to manipulate and twist the words of God.

Perfect example! What does that mean for us? Simple! Well? It's up to us to make it Simple. Just make yourself memorize scripture! I remember the story when Jesus was being tempted in the desert. Yes I remember there was a story regarding this. However, I didn't have the story memorized. I should though. But, I don't :(.

Pause Break. What comes to mind is this gentleman from church. I believe he memorized some books not just verses but books from The Bible. Then, one Sunday he recited the passages for the congregation. Many people in the audience were blessed! Myself included.

Now, What did you all get from this reading? I sure hope you got something. The right something.
