To pardon is another word for an act of forgiveness. And, we fellow spouses know that the word pardon should be utilized much throughout your marriage. Right? Well, if you didn't realize that? Now, I really hope you do.
I know! You don't need to tell me twice! Pardoning aka forgiving really anyone that wronged you?
But, for this writing particularly your spouse? Oh yeah talk about difficult!
The crime can vary from a low degree to a very high degree. For example, let's say your husband ate all the raisins in your bowl of trail mix!
You get so mad at your husband. But, you realize that it's OK. Really? Spouse, you really think that your spouse would eat all of the raiains in the trail mix just to spite you? Did it ever occur to you that maybe your husband was just super hungry and didn't realize he was eating all of the raisins?
Your spouse loves you. I really think your spouse when eat all of the reasons if he knew you loved them?Don't think negative of him, like that!
By the way, if you have been following my blog
for many years, then you should know that I hate raisins!
So, just know that if my husband ate all the raisins in my trail mix? I would find it very loving! He knows I hate raisins! :)
Oh yeah, every time I get oatmeal from McDonald's, I do remember what Joe does. He eats all of the raisins! See? little things like that is what made this wife feel loved!
Then there are those things spouses do that seem impossible to pardon. I'm thinking of this story I heard from a loved one when I was in my late teens or early twenties. I really don't remember how my loved one found out.
But, all that matters was that she did. She had found out that her husband was having an affair for 3 years with another woman. I know! I can't even imagine how horrible that would be. Shoot, I don't want to be able to ever imagine something like that.
Anyway, does this memory of mine hit close to home with you? If so, first, let me say I am sorry of such a distressing scene of events.
Personally, do I think we people
shoukd offer people pardons. To that, I say a big fat yes! Now, ask me, what about me? To any of the above situations would I offer someone a pardon?
Well, if I was in the raisins incident?
Yeah sure. I would offer him a pardon.
If it was my loved one's Husband cheating on her And living a double life? I know that I should pardon that time. But, sadly to say I don't think I would. I know
that I should.
I guess you can call me a Hypocrite. Sorry, nope Sam is not perfect! I will say That? Maybe down the years? After a long...long time. That is a difficult one. And, so very hard to forget.
1John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness
Ephesians 4:32
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven.
For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven;
Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
“But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
