The Gift Of Giving (Tithing)

Play for the Audio Version

Let me 1st talk to people who go to church. Maybe once or more than once a week? What are your thoughts about giving ( Tithing)? What does the Lord have to say in his word about giving back to Him? What does God have to say about tithing?

I think this is a topic many people may not know too much about. Or, maybe they do? They just either follow it in a very positive way or negative way.

Growing up through the years, I didn't really know much about the word "tithing "or how much one should give back to God, when the offering plate came my way. I was young. So, my parents took care of that.

Now, as a married woman? My spouse and I have to take care of that. Not our parents.

My husband and I are both born again Christian believers. So, we do follow what God says in the Bible. Well, at least we try to follow the Bible and what it says in there about tithing.

If you haven't read it, you should check it out. It might surprise you. I know it will definitely "school" one about tithing.

1st of all, do we all know what it means to tithe? Think of a 10th back to God. And. I will let you guys do some homework or  research on that if you would like more elaboration.

WHAT IS TITHING? JAYSON D BRADLEY

Despite the fact that many people use the word “tithe” synonymously with any church-related giving, the word tithe literally means “tenth.”

The tithe was an obligatory offering from the law of Moses requiring 10 percent of an Israelite’s firstfruits. Because God provided the harvest, this first part was returned to Him. It was a reminder to Israel that all things we have are His. It was a show of thankfulness for His provision.

2 Corinthians 9:7

Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
