Marriage? Part 2 Love and Respect

However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. (‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭33‬ NIV)

In today's entry I plan on touching a little on this subject, and in future entries, focus on the husband in one writing and the wife in another.  Much of what I plan on writing about stems from how, I as a wife, define love and I plan on getting some quotes from various men to explain their definition of respect.

Believe me, in my earlier years of marriage I had no idea how important love is to the woman and how much men crave respect from their wives. I tell ya, you never think that deep abut the two subjects. It's when you are in a marriage relationship love and respect will be 2 words that will ultimately define the success of a marriage.

I am thankful to God for bringing me mentors in the past and even books to read as well that really helped to make God's instruction for a husband and wife clearer to me and it made my marriage grow and mature healthier than it could have.  Of, course I am not saying we're out of the woods of fighting and I am always showing my husband respect and my husband is always showing me love.  Nope, if that was the case that would make us a perfect married couple.  And, that friends isn't possible.  However, I will say that God knows my heart and he does know that my husband and I are  trying. So, that's all we could do, as a married couple we will always make each other mad, and fail to show love and respect to one another all the time, but I hope my husband knows my heart as I know his.  I forget sometimes, but it's awesome and it helps a lot when I remember. Pastor Gerry Miller once told me, "Offenses  will occur because we are fallen creatures who unfortunately do things that offend people.  It's not so easy to prevent all wrong doing," and I love when he said, " At some points marriage isn't about Faults, but forgiveness."

Please, do keep up to this series and, to reiterate I do plan on  talking more about wives definition of love and husband's definition of respect.  And, I think it'll be interesting to get others opinions as well.
