Every time I hear a story of how a person forgave another person for something that seemed so unforgivable, I am just always wondering why even and how? I remember a few years back reading a story about a husband that had fallen away from his wife and had been having an affair. When the wife found out she was devastated and her initial reaction was to leave her husband. Her husband felt sorry for his actions and apologized to his wife, repented of his sin, never saw the other women again and really wanted to change. The wife forgave her husband and worked things out and retried their marriage. Their marriage became a lot better. The wife could have easily left her husband, but she didn't. You better believe the only reason she stayed was because God gave her the strength to stay. The wife saw that her husband genuinely wanted to give their marriage another try and she saw in his actions of never seeing the other woman and by his change in behavior that he really wanted to change. Not all adultery stories end similar to this story. But, that wife chose to be forgiving, and God's plan for that couple was to work things out. To reiterate, the wife could have chosen to forgive the cheating husband and they may have divorced then or at a later time. Who knows? Remember are we guaranteed that God will make miracles happen all the time? Or, maybe the wife would choose not to forgive her cheating husband? We really can never predict the future of our actions.
All I know is that God wants us to be forgiving of our brothers and sisters. What happens as a result of the forgiveness is unpredictable. One thing that I have discovered and found very challenging and difficult is that for the children of God it's about obedience and not feelings.
Wow please check out this story of a woman who showed forgiveness to what you would think is the unforgivable. Please also let the song be a blessing to you.
