Part 4 Dependence On God Series: Allowing Reasons To Depend On Him

I don't know about you guys, but sometimes I do think that God purposely does put us in difficult situations so that we will reach out and depend on him. Does that make God kind of selfish? Maybe, but I don't think the bad kind of selfish you know what I mean? He is God, so shouldn't we give him all our attention? Starting with depending solely on him for everything?

I have difficulty with things sometimes minor and sometimes pretty major. I'm talking about like simple things for normal healthy people like pouring a glass of milk in a bowl for my cereal. As I grab for the carton of milk, I do find myself saying a quick prayer that goes something like, "Lord please help me not spill the milk and I pray that I would have enough control to pour the milk in the bowl." Sometimes He answers positively, but sometimes He doesn't.  And sometimes I say that prayer, sometimes I don't.

There are times when Joe leaves me home alone while he goes to work. He worries about things like that I'm sure.  But, he knows that God is taking care of me.  See, let's say that I'm always going to be watched, kind of like have a caretaker or someone who always watches me.  My thinking is well if that was the case, then of course I would be a lot safer, of course things would be a lot more convenient for me, but? But? Yes, there is a but. And, that is but when will I have the time or opportunity to depend on God? Right? Friends there've been times when I did have someone with me to make sure I was safe. But, I still fell, or I still injured myself and got hurt even if a person was with me.  Was if their fault? Were they not watching me well enough? I think they were watching me as much and as well as they could. I don't blame them for me falling or hurting myself.

I guess what I'm trying to point out is that when we get caught up in those difficult situations then, of course the first thing I will say is to call for God and depend on God.  But, we also need to keep in mind that humanly, we cannot prevent what may be a dangerous situation if it's in the will and plan of God.  If it's in God's will it is bound to happen.
