When I read my daily bread devotional this morning the title was something about God being our eyelids. Immediately, I had a confused look on my face and blinked my eyes. I guess because I was a little shocked by that comment and at the same time pretty puzzled.
Then, as I kept reading it started to make a lot more sense. Let me share with you what I got from my reading. Basically, if we are to open our eyes, people can look into our pupils, iris, cornea, all that wonderful stuff. And, in order for one to see or view things properly, those aspects in one's eyes can not be tampered with or damaged in any way.
They have to be protected. That is where the eyelids come in as protectors. You see what I mean? That is why I'm saying God is like our eyelids. Because, God is our protector!
Let me share something with you guys that I got from my reading that was pretty interesting. There's no way I could think of all this by myself because I am no way in the medical field, in particular focus, being on Optometry. But, here it is. "The eyelid guards the eye from danger, and by blinking helps remove dirt or dust. It keeps sweat out of the eye. It lubricates the eyeball, keeping it healthy. It closes, allowing rest."
Encouraging deep thought of the day:
Thank you Lord for guarding us like the eyelids protect the eye!
Deuteronomy 32:10
He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye.
Open the Eyes of My Heart Lord
