I also would like to give a shout out to Jared. Hi Jared, and thanks for stopping to talk to me and accepting my card! Oh, I forgot to mention Melanie was such a blessing! She actually took two extra cards because she said she had two friends that could probably use it. Shout out to this other guy I met and I totally forgot his name but I remember his wife's name is Maggie. I refuse to guess what this gentleman's name is and risk butchering it. Shout out to Ricardo who was in line much later after that. Just another awesome dude!
Shout out to Mike. Wow, okay thank you Mike. Mike was in line and I was trying to get his attention. But the line was moving so I missed him. But then I guess after he got his coffee he came back to me. I told him that I was just trying to get his attention so he can let me know if he can read my card. He read it out loud to me. So again we're all good! What person do you know that would do that? He actually took the time and came back to me? That was the Holy Spirit folks! Praise God!
So ladies and gentlemen, and future people who'll be getting my card, praise God! I'm praying that you will be encouraged by my writings!
I'm going to talk about sports, Do you like sports? How exactly do you handle your liking of sports? Let me explain what I'm trying to say.
I think the last writing I talked about sports was when I was praising my love with the Chicago Cubs, even though they were a team known for always losing their games. Then came the end of the season, and remember I predicted with God anything is possible so they may win the World Series!? Indeed and definitely, with God anything is possible! Then came the bandwagon fans and and also the genuine Cubs fans who have been with them since the beginning, winners or losers! This subject came up because yesterday I was in the elevator with this gentleman on my way to having an MRI at the University of Chicago hospital. This man made a comment about my Cubs hat. That's all I will say about that.
In any case, I will only speak of myself on this subject. I said before when I was a young girl I've always loved the Cubs. Yes, I was ridiculed or made fun of because I did live in the south side. But, who cares right? I think I had a thing for underdogs
Let's go to the present times. Do you guys like to watch sports? Is your voice ever at a high volume directed do the TV sports players when they display so much stinking stupidity with each play? Here's another question. How are the words that are coming out of your mouth when you are yelling? Do you think they're music to the Lord's ears?
I remember last year watching sports games. It was either the Bulls, the Cubs, or the Hawks. Oh my word. When scores were going down and they were about to be losers, I felt their pain and I would transpire that vulgar and coarse language and just bitterness. So I prayed because I did not want to do that and I definitely did not want people around me talk like that either.
So what did I feel the Lord was telling me to do? Well, I didn't feel like he was telling me to stop watching sports all together. He helped me. All the sudden I just wanted to mute the television and not look at the television. Maybe God wanted me to switch the channel. So, now I can have a better handle on it because it's just a game with normal everyday people making normal everyday human mistakes.
Sports is not my primary God. Sports is a Leisure and given by God. Should we choose to accept it and take part in it, that is up to our hearts. I want to end with this story that I know I've shared before but it's so freaking encouraging.
My cousin-in-law Martin was such a lover of sports he would watch basketball, football, everything. Then, I guess one day the Lord spoke to his heart. Martin saw how he was acting when he was around Sports. And, he didn't like it. Most importantly, because he knew the Lord didn't like it. So Martin chose to remove Sports from his life.
Friends, if you know something is hindering your relationship with God, maybe God is saying to remove it from your life. Maybe not forever, but just until you feel in your heart you are able to handle it. At the same time, will your actions towards it be pleasing to God?
Matthew 5:16 ESV
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
James 4:17 ESV
So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.
Mark 9:43 ESV
And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire.
