Bad Company Corrupts

Do you agree with that saying? I totally agree. I totally agree because I think it is true. I can personally vouch for that because I've experienced that in my own life. The word "bad" is already a negative.  So, if you are in the presence of bad company you better believe it will corrupt your thinking and actions.

When I was in my early teenage years entering high school, I will say because I know. I was acting stupid. I hung out with the wrong crowd. I was part of the minority group. Therefore, I hung out with the minority. That's all I will say about that part.  It's not to say that all minorities are bad, it's just that this particular group is.

I made bad decisions. Can you guys imagine little miss innocent Sam as quite the bad a--- of Evergreen Park High School. I remember I was going to fight this girl, Jennifer, because she looked at me crazy. Guys I was going to fight this girl just because someone told me she looked at me all crazy? I know, wasn't that stupid?  It's weird because I can actually see her face in my mind right now LOL.

Did you know this is also the school of the infamous Unabomber? That was just a little side note.  Thankfully, I was not even born yet when he went to the school. I was not around during that time. Was Ted Kazinsky, the Unabomber, in bad company? Like, I mean physically? I would have no idea. I will venture to guess there was some evil thinking going on in his mind. So, mentally he was in bad company. Anyway, enough about him. My writing this morning is on being in bad company. Let's revert back to what I was saying about my teenage years.

Basically, if bad company is in our presence that is not a good thing. I wasn't in any gang or anything. I did have friends that were though. I was in a crew. It was called NWP. And, I'm not going to share what it stands for. Now, I see how being in a crew is just one step down from joining a gang.  Praise God I did not go deeper into that sort of lifestyle.

If you were wondering, at that time, I was not a Christian. I was not a true believer. However, the pitfalls of that sort of lifestyle is what led me to Jesus Christ. If you guys are interested in hearing about my testimony about how I came to know Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior, please send me a message and let me know and I will be more than happy to share with you!

Friends, we all know that the people we choose to be around will influence us and eventually there is a pretty high possibility we will end up mimicking their actions, how they are. At that time, when I was a teen, I wanted to be included. I wanted to be accepted. I guess that is where peer pressure came in.

Folks, that was then, many years ago. Way back in the past. Memories I would like to forget. However, I honestly believe the Lord just made me remember them for now so I can do this writing and encourage you people! Remember I have the weirdest memory.

So yeah, the bottom line is eventually whether you like it or not, whether it's not bad or bad. There is a pretty good chance that the company that surrounds you will have an impact on your life. And, the question we need to ask ourselves is are we in Bad Company? Bad Company corrupts!

We need to make sure that Jesus Christ fills the glory of your presence!

1 Corinthians 15:33 ESV

Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”

Proverbs 13:20 ESV

Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.

Proverbs 14:7 ESV

Leave the presence of a fool, for there you do not meet words of knowledge.
