I think I was around 11 years old, when my dad brought home our first computer. It was an apple computer. It took some time before the computer was up to the point of being advanced enough to introduce us to the internet. it wasn't sudden. I think my first project I made for myself was to master the art of typing on the big keyboard.
When I got to that level, we were easily welcoming AOL ( America Online) Chat rooms were the thing in my day. Chicago Asians to be exact! After meeting in person, that was the avenue that brought me and my husband closer together as far as linking us to further communicate on the telephone or maybe pagers. (Young people Google that) along with alphanumerics. Those were cool. I was code 511!
It's amazing how technology just exploded. What is AOL? Right!? Then, we had Friendster. That was Facebook in the making I think. Now, for some people, Facebook is the first thing some people look at when they wake up in the morning and, the last thing they look at before going to bed at night. Are you like that?
Friends, Facebook is a leisure or perk that God provided for our entertainment. When you wake up in the morning the first thing you should do is spend some time with God. Perhaps, thanking him for giving you a good night sleep and waking you up that day. I'm just saying
Of course it's whatever time is convenient for you to spend with God. That is if you are a believer of course. Unbelievers, can totally press the mute button on what I'm saying. Or, maybe not and you are voluntarily choosing to listen? Who knows?
Personally, I can't start my day unless I spend some with God first. So, I usually don't really check my Facebook until his time is done! That could be different with everybody. The important part is to make the time for God. Remember my reading on not having time? So, friends you do have time. Remember you can rearrange your schedule? You do have time. It's all about wanting to make time.
Look at today's time, now we can get Facebook on our phone. We can contact peopIe by commenting on a post or sending a Facebook message or by texting. When I was still a novice to all the Social Media stuff, I remember being kind of gullible online. I didn't know yet about crazy people on the internet. Believe me, after years of experience on the internet, I do now!
Let me ask you guys a question. How are you using social media? Are you using it to discourage other people by venting out your own discouragements? I hope you're not utilizing social media to spread gossip.
There is one thing I do regret doing. I know I've done in the past and I probably will regret doing it in the future. That is using Facebook to release or vent out the bad stuff. Either, concerning my illness, relationships, just any bad stuff. People don't want to hear about that. People don't want to feel discouraged. You got a problem talk to somebody in person or on the phone that you trust and have them pray for you. You don't have to broadcast your problems to the whole world! If you guys really feel better when you type out and share your feelings, then make a private message to yourself and vent it out. Then if you want you can show it to your loved ones, you Trust won't spread gossip and will just pray for you.
Pause break. Hi to Shaneen. Thank you girl for opening my treat! I pray that you will be encouraged by the writings!
Let me end this writng with some wise counsel from my friend Carey. Have a wonderful day!
