Power Series Part 45: Power Of Hovering

Play for the Audio Version
I was listening to Moody Radio one morning and one of the speakers Carl shared an interesting story. You know when you go to like grocery stores or the mall and there is just so many people that parking is so bad? He shared a story about how he had a parking spot and he was leaving and he was asking for $7 from the next person who wants this spot. He had kind of his own personal auction And, other people were screaming $4, $5 etc etc. Isn't that funny? What people would do for things? Right? Well, things immediately. In this case parking spots. Calling up while pushing people in the world! If there even are any anymore

I have discovered so much in my lifetime that people are always wanting things in the "now" time rather than the "wait a little bit" time. Does that make sense?

Years ago house phones were popular. Now, cell phones are what's in. You want to get a hold of somebody? We just don't want to wait a little bit anymore.

We need to be more patient, and we need to not hover or make the person we're trying to speak with feel like they're being suffocated.

What comes to mind is sharing Christ with someone. I'm not one to do what I'm about to say. Oh, but I am one who went through what I'm about to say.

Yeah, it's awesome if you want to share Christ with someone because you believe if they don't know Christ then doom is what lies in their future. Okay, so that's what someone I believe. Nothing wrong with that. Everyone has their own opinion. Maybe, what I should say is that everyone has their own deep thoughts.

I think the wrong way to tell someone about Christ is by hovering. Don't ever hover over someone to try to win them to Christ. They will only feel hovered over and like they are being suffocated. They will definitely not want anything to do with Christ.

Seriously, my friends don't do it in a mean way! Don't do it like you're hovering over the person and making them feel like they are struggling to get air to breathe. People will know people are Christians by their love. Just remember that God will provide a good time for you to speak to them.

Because remember the evil one is the angel of Light and he will make it seem good for the Lord. Watch out and ask yourself (is this really what the Lord wants me to do? Is this a good way of making the Lord look good? Or, does it only seem like I'm hovering too much?)

I've been there. And, it made me feel like turning over to Christ was the last thing I wanted to do! If the people who serve God are going to be annoying like this person, then no thank you to that!

Friends, think about it. Perhaps, really think about your testimony and only share the good things that God has done for you. You want to make yourself look good because you are a child of God. And, that will make other people want to know more about God so they can look good!

Let me end with this little story. I have a dear friend who I had shared Christ with. Unfortunately, and they're thinking did a good job because he told me that he's done didn't believe. I didn't push it. I didn't start a debate or anything. I said what I had to say and he reacted. He reacted in a way they made me feel like I I wasn't getting through to him. So, that is the end of that. Well, that is the end of my part I mean.

The following week I get a telephone call from my friend. He was just in a really bad car accident. God, we ended up to be okay. He was so scared he said. He thought he was going to die. He said he saw his whole life flash before his eyes. Then he said to me, what were you saying about that God and Jesus thing again?

To reiterate, I was done with my part... Try not to hover so much.

Thank you so much to Selena for helping me take off my coat. Thank you so much for accepting two more cards  for your friend Caroline and sister Sydney. I pray you guys will be encouraged by the writings. And have a blessed day and weekend!

2 Peter 3 :9

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
