DTFS Promise Series Part 60: Promise To Spit You Out!

Play for the Audio Version

Happy Saturday! Okay, well you all are probably thinking this. What on God's pretty Earth is Samantha going to write about today! Spit you out? Yep, no grammatical errors or misspelled words with that. It's actually in the Bible too. I'm sorry for keeping you guys in the dark. Let me explain.

See, in a person's life, I believe there will be evidence of three spiritual temperatures. They would be hot. Or cold. Or luke warm.

The hot person is one that believes in God. This person is so close to God. This kind of person is basically on fire for God!

Then we have the total opposite. A person with a cold temperature. This type of person does not believe in God. This type of person probably hates the thought of God.

Then we have the person who is living life with the temperature of being probably the worst temperature,
according to God.  That is if the person is having a temperature of being lukewarm.

Let me share a Bible verse that will speak more about being lukewarm. How does God feel about that? Prepare for the shock of your life!

“‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.

See, I told you it's quite shocking. And, that's where I got spit you out! So, I think in this case , the title of my reading doesn't really pertain to being a good thing!

I know! That's exactly what I'm thinking. I was thinking well wouldn't it be better to be lukewarm than cold?

I believe God gave Pastor Greg Laurie a wise answer for that question. And, lucky for me I was blessed to come across it and share it with you guys! He said this.

" No, it actually isn’t. That’s because a cold person who has no interest in the things of God may, in a way, be closer to coming to Christ than a lukewarm person. They may be thinking about getting their life right with Him.

On the other hand, someone sitting in church might say, “I know this already. I’ve heard this already.”

At least the spiritually cold person knows they have a need, while the lukewarm person doesn’t think they do. And that’s the problem. ~ Greg Laurie.

I guess I will end this writing with some questions you can ask yourself. What is your spiritual temperature? Hot? Cold? Or..... is it Lukewarm?
Remember, if it's lukewarm you're going to get spit out!

Revelation 3:16

So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.

Matthew Hart:
Are You A Lukewarm Christian?
