First of all. Don't we all have those kinds of days? You know what I mean. Some days just out of the blue. Or, perhaps because of the situation, we may end up thinking, "Do we even matter?"
I get why we people may think like that. Our time on Earth does go by so quick. You live you die. That's it right?
Unfortunately, that is it according to what unbelievers think. Believers in Jesus clearly understand that to Jesus we do matter. We were fearfully and wonderfully made.
Fellow writer, David H. Roper says in the Daily Bread: "Moses, Israel’s prophet, would agree: “Our days . . . quickly passes, and we fly away” (Psalm 90:10). The brevity of life can worry us and cause us to wonder if we matter. "
Folks, are you listening to me? Just yesterday, I had tears in my eyes because I was having those same exact thoughts. And, this morning I wake up to the sound of God's voice saying, " Yes Sam you do matter! " I am kidding. I didn't literally actually hear God's voice audibly saying that. Just seeing if you guys are paying attention. :D. Were you?
Seriously, though? I really did feel in my heart that God was letting me know that to him I do matter. Yes, the daily bread devotional that I read this morning was definitely God's wake-up call to me telling me, Sam you do matter!"
You all may think it's a really weird coincidence. But, I believe it was a divine appointment. God led the writer to write about what he wrote. Then, God lead me to read the writing the exact time I needed to read it.
The writer also said, "We also matter because we can show God’s love to others. Though our lives are short, they’re not meaningless if we leave a legacy of God’s love. We’re not here on earth to make money and retire in style, but to “show To show guns love to others!"
And finally, though life here on earth is transient, we’re creatures of eternity. Because Jesus rose from the dead, we’ll live forever. That’s what Moses meant when he assured us that God will “satisfy us in the morning with [His] unfailing love.” On that “morning” we’ll rise to live and love and be loved forever. And if that doesn’t create meaning, I don’t know what does.
