Seeing Double

Play for the Audio Version

In my early to mid teen years, I began to notice that there were times I was seeing double vision. I didn't really think much of it. I guess my eyes were getting used to it. I just remember when I would take pictures back then and my eyes did look weird. Kinda off. One eye was looking one way and the other eye was looking the same direction but the eye ball was not in the same spot. If you understand what I mean. It was almost there.

Actually I do remember Joe taking a picture moths ago of my eye one time, close up. Just send me a personal message if you really want to see it. And, I will send you an email. Joe said that the picture is pretty freaky. So, I don't want to post the picture for everyone to see.

As years went by the odd movement of my eyes were delivering a message to my brain that everything was normal. Ofcourse, it wasn't. Not at all Normal!

Years later, when I began to get additional weird things happening with my body. I knew then it was time to see a doctor. After weeks of testing, blood work, cat scans, MRIs, etc. 2 and 2 were beginning to come together.

I remember being in my college dorm room. In 1 month, I got laryngitis, bronchitis, and shingles because I had no immune system that would usually fight off those germs. I found that the double vision I got sometimes would get were part of MS symptoms.

My friend and founder of AMTC (Actors, Models, and Talent for Christ), Carey Lewis, totally hit the nail on the head, so to speak. I mean in one of her devotional readings. Carey says, "double vision causes Double Trouble." Our 2 eyeballs are supposed to be always in sync. They are a team. Working together. The eyeball should not almost be at the same spot. It should be exactly at the same spot!

What comes to mind is this. The Lord does not like division among his people. Mark 10:8 says: The 2 will become 1 flesh. So, they are no longer two, but one flesh. What this writing brings to mind is this. Relationships with people should not be like my eyes. I mean I should not be divided.

I am becoming mindful of a husband and wife relationship. When they come together they truly become so flesh. The two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh' (Mark 10:8).

Let me end my writing with words from Carey Lewis. "Double vision causes double
trouble. When two eyes should be working together, a breakup causes hard repercussions." Don't I know a thing about double vision.
