Obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit.
Yup, the bible is prety clear with what it says about who we are to obey! When I 1st heard this verse years ago, I don't remember really following it religiously. However, I would say the Lord took care of that.
I say that because many years later, throughout time? God allowed me to get into different situations where I really needed God's help with normal stuff like putting my leg up or something.
I actually needed that. The command to really obey leaders didn't fully resonate with me until recently. If I think about it? Who would I consider to be a leader in my life?
Well, ofcourse my husband is my spiritual leader. Then, honor and obey parents, honor and respect the elderly. Then I would consider Pastor Gerry a fatherly type ministry leader. Political figures are our leaders. People of authority are our leaders.
Let me guess. Are you guys now thinking this? Well, Sam , "what if the leader is telling us to do something we think God is probably not going to like?" Oh! What an excellent question! And, to that I highly stress this.
I think the most important thing Gond wants us to follow is to obey your leaders! Our almighty Father the Lord Jesus Christ is our #1 leader! Him and His commands should be our first priority!
We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves
