Biting your tongue actually really hurts sometimes doesn't it? I just sneezed and bit my tongue lol Ouch! What I mean in this writing though is I think we really should try to be meek in certain situations, otherwise regarded by some as biting your tongue. I know that is difficult to do. Believe me I do know.
Let's not kid ourselves, I know there are times when we really should bite our tongues when people are speaking, but we don't and end up saying something that just either makes us look stupid or maybe it makes the other person look somewhat foolish. Perhaps, a yelling match will occur filled with harsh and vulgar words only bashing, discouraging or hurting the other person, Does that happen with you? I guess my thought regarding this is that I think the Lord wants us to just be meek when we know we should be. That's it, there's no complicated formula we must follow or anything.
I asked my Pastor if he could suggest a good bible verse pertaining to how The Lord spoke about meekness, He gave me Titus 3:2 To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. (Titus 3:2 KJV) I also liked this version and not say cruel things or argue. They should be gentle and kind to everyone. (Titus 3:2 CEVUK00) Honestly, my first thought immediately is "all the time is kinda impossible!" But then the Holy Spirit reminded me that "With God all things are possible!" So, I guess I should try to keep in my mind what The Lord said about having meekness when I find myself in certain situations. Then I thought "everyone?" Yes, everyone. That would be quite a challenge I think right?
Ok, I could say I will always be aware and skip the slandering of people. I will always keep the peace and be gentle and kind with people. But, that would be a bold faced lie, right? We are not perfect remember? I could give a ton of examples that show why it's best to remain meek and to really think before you speak. However, I am going to refrain from possibly embarrassing certain people, myself included. I guess the challenge is that sometimes we really just have to bite our tongues!
