Authority Part 1 Honor Your Parents

Doesn't the word "Authority"  just make you feel like standing up tall and offering a salute?  Or, perhaps, it does not ? However,  did you know that God actually really has strong feelings about authority and that we really should follow our authority.

I want to begin a series regarding my thoughts on how God feels about authority.  First I want to write about Part 1 Honoring our parents, then follow with following the authority of our husband, then following the authority of our teachers, bosses, and lastly our civil authority (cop, mayor, president, etc)

Honoring our parents should be pretty straight forward and an easy command to follow....right? Wrong! I can imagine questions popping up like ( What if my parents are wrong? What if my parents don't love me? What if my parents verbally/physically abuse me) The "what ifs" can go on and on.

What are my thoughts on that you say? I think well God put a command in his word that His children should honor their mother and father. You may not agree with me when I say, no matter what we just gotta do it.  I mean of course if your parents are physically abusing you, then use your common sense and immediately run for safety.  I still believe God wants us to be safe.  If your parents are verbally abusing you, I think you should pray definitely. I kinda think if it doesn't stop it can kinda be just as bad, because it's also abuse.  So, do what you think will keep you safe from the verbal abuse.  Some may think differently, and again everyone is entitled to their own thought...

Bottom line is The Lord created you for a purpose and His will was for you to be the child of your parents; Even, if sometimes you may think you hate your parents and God made a mistake in putting you where you are.  First of all, know that God does not make mistakes ever! For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. (‭Psalm‬ ‭139‬:‭13‬ NIV) God had and has a plan for your life and it involves your parents. I cannot tell you what it is, but what I can do is encourage you to follow God's command and Honor Your Parents! And, I can tell you that the Lord does bless his children for following His commands.

If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God: (‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭28‬:‭1-2‬ NIV)

Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. (‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬
KJV)

Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. (‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭1‬ KJV)

“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is
giving you. (‭Exodus‬ ‭20‬:‭12‬ NIV)

TBC.................
