Authority Part 4: Do I like the President? Conclusion!

Okay, now I want to end this series writing about what immediately comes to people's minds when hearing the word "Authorities." and, that is like that of a civil authoritiy, like for example a president, the mayor, and those of the like.  

First of all, I just want to mention that cops, as you know, are an authority figure.  We, the citizens, merely have to follow the law and we should be okay right?  Well, maybe it’s that simple for some.  Cops help those who are in trouble and they enforce the law, and make sure the law breakers are punished in some way, right?  My thought on cops is this, thank you cops for choosing this profession as your civil duty to protect us citizens.  Aside from terrorist-like, fake cops or the cops who abuse their power; thank you!

I am going to give my thoughts on chosen verses from the Bible. The first one is:

Romans 13: 1 - 7.

I . Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.

Ok, this first got to me! Read it out loud and then tell me how you feel. It is clearly stating that everyone should follow and humble themselves to the governing authorities. Friends the supreme or sometimes regarded as, " The Head Honcho" is God. And, currently those who exist are here where they are appointed because they are established by God.

2. Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have supposed will receive condemnation found themselves.

Ok, here I see that if you resist authority that was given by God, it is talking about people receiving condemnation upon themselves? Woah!  I’m scurred!

There also is another verse that I wanted to share that really got me and made me think deep in thought. Check this verse out, (For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because tho has rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king. 1 Samuel 15: 23 KJV) Ok,  here goes my thoughts: when people choose not to follow authority condemnation  will be the results given by God. Well, they are rebelling against God right? And, this verse is relating rebellion 2 witchcraft? My thought is if I choose to rebel, I feel like I would be turning to the dark side and letting evil prevail over the will of God. That's some scary stuff! Right?

4. For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same;

Now to turn to the not so scary stuff but stuff that should give some feeling of security and hope. Rulers are not supposed to make people fear them. We, the citizens should be aware of not breaking the laws and in a perfect world we probably would receive the same praise in return. However, we just don't live in a perfect world.  And, what I I say to that is to ufortunately deal with the negatives that come our way. We just need to concentrate on 
us and how to steer away from the bad.

5. .........Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience' sake.

I tell ya.  That conscience can be a deadly weapon! I guess my only thought on that is if you have kept something bad in your conscience  that still needs peace you better try to correct the mistake because it will live in your 
conscience and haunt you till you make it right.

1 Peter 2 :13

Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every human authority: whether to the Emperor is the supreme authority,

Do I like the president? I don't think it matters if you knew who I voted for  in the last election. Would it change your perception of me? Whether the president won or not, I believe the Lord says we must follow His leading. 
Realize that whatever he decides to do while in office and whatever will happen is because the Lord is allowing that to happen. We, the citizens must follow and pray for our leaders.

I am going to play devil's advocate because I'm really thinking people will immediately have in their minds “well what if the president wants us to do bad things, do we still have to follow him?”  My answer to that is yup unless it is against God's will because I know God is the highest authority! It is such a tender topic really; politics. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Just like I share my deep thoughts!
