Something I think most, if not all, of us should have is the desire to discipline ourselves to do what we know is right. I know for me, I kind of
struggle in that department with certain things. You might be struggling too. Well, no need to worry if you do because it's pretty common. I think some people
are just really good at being disciplined.
I think one area that true believers
really need to discipline themselves on is going to church. I can imagine some people are reading this will have a sea-saw effect going on in their minds and thinking should I go to
church today or should I not go to church today. If this is you, I believe God led you to this
writing and God led me to write this writing for his purpose and glory. I believe your decision of going to church or
not should be a simple decision.
One last thing I'm thinking about now is there really should be cause for discipline when it comes to reading the Word of God. I accepted Christ in my heart since age 15
and it took till my late twenties till God spoke to my heart about my
reading of his Word. I really thought I was reading enough already but I
guess not. I felt convicted because I was being disobedient to God's call. I
felt that God was calling me to read more and pray more. It was difficult for me to get up early. Before, I was used to getting up like 10 or 11 and went to bed maybe like
midnight or later.
I prayed to God and surrendered myself to
his will for my life. Shortly after, I felt his answer. I began waking up with
no alarm clock around 3 to 4 AM. Every
morning, I begin my day reading the Word of God and praying. And folks, let me
tell you it is the best way for me to start my day!
Such little sleep and feeling and
looking so refreshed is only because the glory of God is shining on my face.
People who see me at the start of the day know how little sleep I get and they are
amazed by how energetic and refreshed looking I am and appear.
Please don't think that waking up early to
spend your quiet time with God is for everybody; because it's definitely not. My only advice to you is to surrender
yourself to God and He will lead you to what He wants you to do and he will
give you the power to do it!
Philippians 2:13 NLT
For God is working in you, giving you the
desire and the power to do what pleases him.
