Is God's Word In Your Heart?

Are you reading your bible? Have you ever read the bible? Do you even think you should read the bible or perhaps maybe you're thinking whatever you hear on Sunday morning at church is enough of what you should even get out of the bible? Or, if you don't even go to church, you have never or currently don't hear God's word at all? Well, that would be uber not good!

Friends, I think you should read your bible. No, I'm telling you if you have embraced God as your personal Lord and savior, then it's pretty clear from Him that He really wants you to read and be obedient to His commands in the bible. Nowadays, there are different versions that you can choose that will totally cater to your understanding.  However, do be careful because there are certain versions that are so far off from the genuine word of God. Or, I have even seen bibles with unnecessary books added to the readings or phrases that have been added, removed, or just totally tampered with. I repeat be careful!

When I need guidance, comfort or just want to speak with God I will speak to him or communicatewith him with my mind.  And, sometimes he responds to my mind or heart, through the wisdom of other people or I will get his response by the reading of His word! All Thise ways bring me so much comfort.

Friends, it really is so imperative that we read his words.  I have been a Christian since age 15 and it was only just a few years ago that I went through the entire bible in one year.   My husband and I have been going through the one year bible readings. Here's an encouraging thought.  My husband became a Christian in January 2001 and he got hungry for the word of God that he read through the whole bible in 6 months. Friends, it doesn't take long to read however much you can.  What really helps my husband and I is going through a one year bible plan.  It's actually our 3rd time going through it.  And, we plan on beginning another one year bible reading plan in a few days.  We are almost finished with yet another 1 year of reading through the bible. Time to find another one!

I am definitely not trying to push our way of reading the word of God as the only correct way.  I am just trying my best to convince you that the Lord wants us to have a daily meeting with Him and he will respond to your concerns. Your heart may even get convicted or touched by the reading of His Word. I remember one instance I was crying for guidance and I opened up His word and turned to a verse that was so comforting to me and made me feel so much better!

Another thing I highly suggest one does as well is to memorize scripture.  I cannot begin to tell you how very much helpful that is to me. One verse that I just seem to never forget is 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man .  And, God is faithful.  He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But, when you are tempted He will also provide a way out for you to stand up under it. Everyone is different, so pick what verses you want to store in your memory bank.  I remember my Pastor telling the congregation the he used to work on memorizing books of the bible on his hour drive to where he used to work.  Now, it is so encouraging to me when I have a question about life and he immediately recites bible verses that pertain to my concern. And, now my Pastor has given an open challenge for anyone to memorize a book of the bible. My pastor will buy a steak do mer to the willing participant (s)

I cannot stress enough how important it is to set some time everyday to get the word of God in you! You think it's boring? Then pick another version but make sure it's the genuine word of God.  Make it so there are certain rewards once you finish reading a Chapter.  God will make you think of something. I challenge you to give Him your heart that desires to want to read His word. Then, ask Him to bring to your mind ways to read His Word that will succumb to your availability and whatever hinders you from getting the word in your heart.  I really should take my own advice and I will.  I may think I read enough but God may have a different plan. Ask him, and wait for his answer because He will answer. Just wait and see!

2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Matthew 4:4

But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by
every word that comes from the mouth of God.’

Joshua 1:8

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Romans 15:4

For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
