Overwhelmed and Worried

One thing I have learned to do over the years when I worry or sometimes end up in tears due to just feeling so overwhelmed and stressed; but sometimes I do forget!  However, when I remember I say a little prayer to God and give Him all my worries and feelings of being overwhelmed. I'm not going to say and poof, I will feel 100% better. Because, that would not be true.  However, I will say I do feel a little better. It definitely is so unpredictable what will be the result of your mood if you do say a little prayer, but it works for me most times,   And, it's pretty comforting to me when I remember 1 Peter 5:7 Cast all anxiety on Him because He cares for you. I first heard that verse when I was around 15 or so and I needed to memorize it for the "How to Grow" book series I was going through with my friend, Barb. Through the years I still hold that verse in my heart. What a great verse to take out of my memory bank when feeling stressed or overwhelmed.

Have you ever thought to yourself, why do I waste my time worrying about things? Friend,  God already knows what will happen and don't you believe that whatever will happen will be in your best interest? When we worry, isn't it like we are giving God the impression that we don't believe He knows what He is doing, when he clearly does! Wouldn't it seem like we are saying to God, " Are you certain God? because of X Y Z " I think when I worry it's kind of like making God think he doesn't know all the ifs, ands, or buts about me, when DUH he created me so he knows everything about me! I think I should make myself realize I am wasting my time when I worry and really trust that God has everything under control.  I need to just trust!

God wants you to give Him all your cares.  So, please don't think you are burdening Him. That's what makes God so awesome. All He wants us to do is give Him our cares. If you are tired from carrying heavy burdens, come to me and I will give you rest. Take the yoke I give you. Put it on your shoulders and learn from me. I am gentle and humble, and you will find rest. This yoke is easy to bear, and this burden is light. (‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28-30‬ CEVUK00)

Everyone gets overwhelmed right? It is just what happens and we can't control it.  Or, can we? I guess from my thinking I will say just take it one activity at a time.  Get every other thing you need to do out of your mind. Only think about one thing at a time. Take deep breaths, pray, eat or drink something if you are hungry or thirsty. Use the bathroom.  I think it's important to make sure that you are comfortable with yourself.   What helps me is making a to do list when I feel overwhelmed.  Write things down in order of due dates of what needs to be done on paper or I use my IPAD or phone, Then, on another piece of paper or screen I type out the activity that I completed.   Then repeat till finished.  My goal is to complete it all.  It also is a good method to exercise and test your memory. That's just what I do. You may do something different,  But, really we want to stay away from worrying or panicking. Believe me I know, easier said than done! I am the queen of worrying!
