Pride

Pride is a topic I really have to be careful about. Having too much of our pride is really a significant and at most times negative thing when engaging in certain conversations with other people.  When we have too much pride, we are not going to fess up to the truth even if we are wrong,  That's just us being prideful.

I have no one else to blame to use as an example besides myself.  We all know we have pride.  It is a human thing. And, being human means having pride problems.  Let me rephrase and say perhaps you are blessed with not having problems with pride.  If so, good for you! I just believe most of the human race does have pride problems.  And, I know I am one of them.

When I get into arguments with people and I know that I am on the correct side, I am pretty feisty in wanting the other person to know that reality.  I have to be super careful though because I could imagine the arguments coming ahead.  And, we know the variety of sins that can evolve from fights right?  When I get into arguments with people, and I think I am on the correct side, I will fight my way trying to find a link to my side being the truth!  Even, when the other person is pretty correct sounding and has certainly proved me wrong.  Does that happen to you too?

I guess according to the word of God, we need to just swallow our pride. I don't know about you but sometimes that is pretty difficult to do. I looked if I could find a verse in the bible that could be of help.  All I could say, for the sake of promoting the swallowing of pride in bad situations is this verse.
But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” (‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬ NIV)

I certainly believe pride can certainly be utilized for good as well.  For example. I am proud of my relationship with Christ. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭31‬ NIV) I guess I will just say be careful and be aware of how you utilize pride,

  1. I agree. I also think that being humble in all we do counteracts pride all the time.
