God Doesn't Play
I used to have the imaginary and very false 1/2 thought that, " oh, no my God is so good and won't get mad and He is just oh so wonderful to let bad things happen!"
Now, I am saying 1/2 because I definitely believe our God is good and wonderful, but we are kidding ourselves if we believe God would not allow bad things to happen because of His goodness. Yes, I believe that because God is so good, He will allow bad things to happen. How's that for a brain teaser right? I know it's quite a difficult concept to grasp. But, it's true.
Now, if you read the Old Testament in the bible, we see that God really didn't play. He made laws that people should follow and the people chose not to follow or even worse. God warned them sometimes even more than once. But, because of their disobedience, the wrath of God came out. Yup, people began to drop like flies. ( Read the book of Jona- because of his disobedience a whale swallowed him, or King Saul or the Israelites who really were bad. )
Thank God, Jesus came along. Because of what Jesus did by bearing our sins and taking all of them with Him on the cross, we who choose to believe are given mercy and are forgiven. We who choose to accept Jesus in our heart are assured of eternal life in Heaven! God will send the unbelievers to hell. God is the one you must fear. Not only can he take your life, but he can throw you into hell. God is certainly the one you should fear! (Luke 12:5 CEVUK00)Remember, God does not play.
And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. (1 John 5:11-12 NIV)
