I'm an only child as I mentioned in a previous deep thought, so my dependence differs from my husband's view of dependence. I was the baby and the firstborn so the attention given to me was hog wild, so to speak. Joe was the middle child, so he was far from being dependent. Most of the attention when he was growing up was split between his older sister and younger brother. That's how it is with most children who grew up being raised that way right? I will never forget the story Joe shared with me about when he was in SM, a ginormous mall in the Philippines. He was around 8 years old shopping with his aunt. He told me that he got lost from his Aunt. He said it was a little bit hilarious because they all got worried and stuff as they should have but when Joe discovered that he was lost he shook his head and said oh well I'm going home. So he left the mall and walked home. That story always makes me laugh. Because, I totally see that independent little boy now when I look at my husband. Imagine this without cell phones. Right?
If it was me as an eight-year-old little girl who got lost in the mall, I probably would've been crying for my mom. It's kind of cool how the Lord put me with my husband. We are both so different in so many ways yet the same in some ways. We complement each other. I truly believe the Lord created my husband for me and created me for my husband. Now, let me say being dependent on God is a good thing and I think is exactly what he wants from us. Keep reading as I tackle some interesting and hopefully helpful and encouraging writings in the future deep thoughts........
Disclaimer:
Joe's story he shared is funny now, but at the time his family was so worried so kids please don't try that at home. Joe said he had to cross a busy highway by foot and he walked 5 blocks in the projects. Although, he wanted to leave because he was done buying what he needed and didn't want to waste time looking for his family things may have gotten bad so kids if you get lost, don't follow his story and find a trusting adult!
