I remember there have been some people I met who've complimented me on being so nice, and they would tell me, as if they really knew that I certainly have a place up there ready for me when I die because of my niceness. I may have been nice to this person at that time. But, what if she saw me when I was in a bad mood and was far from acting nice? It does and it will happen. I am a human being. Going back to the title of my writing, Does being good really matter?
Before I became a true believer in Christ, I did believe that, but in a different way. I used to believe I needed to have enough good deeds to override the bad deeds in order to get into Heaven. I used to believe the equation faith (believe there is a God) + good works = salvation (getting into Heaven). So, you mean to tell me God, that if I don't have as much good works I won't get into Heaven? Woah, bad works is a given so I thought well we're screwed. I gotta start saying some prayers ASAP!
Well, good thing that phase ended thanks to my Aunt who reordered the equation and backed up the order with words from God. I found out the real and true equation was ( believing in God) Faith = Salvation (Heaven) + good works. So, you see once you put your faith in God he will forgive you and the good works will come, watch and see God will change your heart! If you truly put your trust and faith in Jesus Christ, please know that in His Word he promise that you are assured of your salvation. We will mess up because you know we are human and we are bound to mess up. But, the good news is he says in his word that we are forgiven of our sins! It doesn't mean we are entitled a free pass to voluntarily sin, but we should definitely try our best not to though right!isbt all that good
news?! :)
-John 3:16 ESV
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
- 1 John 5:11-13 ESV
And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
-Romans 3:23 NIV
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
- Romans 6:23 NIV
For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life.
- 1 John 5:11-12
And, this is the testimony, God has given us eternal mice. he who has the so. Has life. He, who
does nit have the Son of God does not have life.
- 1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
