Well, first of all, today is Valentine's Day so Happy Hearts Day! I know this day is very well liked and celebrated/acknowledged by those who are either married, almost married, or just love birds. Those who just don't have someone to love could just probably care less about this day. I remember in my teen years a handful of us girls hated this day and decided to make it a girls night out thinking we didn't need guys who were just players at the time anyway. Lol I think you get my drift.
Anyway, we girls are all married now, and some have kids. In today's writing, I'm going to talk about God's recipe to having a great marriage! You may not think it's possible but it is. But it takes a lot of work from both the husband and the wife. I read this: With the divorce rate at roughly 50% in the US today, one wonders. For a second marriage, the rate rises to 60%. And for a third marriage, it rises even higher to 73%. To be honest, I wasn't surprised, sadly.
However. you know what it is possible to not be included in that statistic. But, seriously it takes a lot of work. And, it doesn't change your marriage to only happy times over night. It takes days, months, years! Take my marriage, my husband and I know what to do and what not to do to make each other happy or stay away from making each other upset. But we still do both and we suffer the consequences when we choose incorrectly. Like the saying goes if at first you don't succeed dust yourselves off and try again. Right?
I follow recipes when I bake stuff. If I don't follow it correctly and don't put in what I know I should and keep out what I know I should it will be horrible! Just like marriage, the husband and wife have to follow Gods word in the bible like a recipe about how to treat your husband or wife. If you don't follow the Lord's commands for your husband or wife, prepare to see your marriage falter. Follow God's recipe to have a prosperous, and successful marriage and you will!
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 ESV
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
