I Drink Decaf

If you're married, does your spouse truly know you? I hope so!  Can you talk about anything and everything with your spouse? I hope so! Joe knows mostly everything about me! He is my husband so he should! He knows I don't like to eat peas and he knows that due to my health I can only drink decaf!

My question is how much does Joe need to know about? To be honest, I was kinda iffy about whether or not, well if one of my girl friends tells me a secret in confidence, should I keep it a secret from my spouse? Well first of all, I brought that question up to Joe, my spiritual leader who I believe The Lord placed in my life to give his wisdom and if he is stumped sometimes he will tell me to get answers from a more mature Christian than us. But, he gave me his thoughts.  You may or not agree, so please remember just sharing my deep thoughts.

Ok, he gave some good "eureka" thoughts.  When my girl friends tell me a secret, depending on the severity and danger it may cause on them is the deciding factor on whether or not to tell anyone, husband or not. See, sometimes people do tell me secrets and if they say oh please don't tell anyone, then that means don't tell anyone. Husband or not. Sometimes, people tell me secrets and they tell me don't tell anyone, well you can tell Joe, but that's it. I think it's really mostly about honoring your word.  If you step outside the boundaries of what your friends tell you about keeping that secret, then you will be susceptible to gossip. And we know the Lord does not like that right?

- Thoughts from Joe- " I think if they told you not to tell anyone else, then you don't tell me.  But if they don't say anything you need to ask them if you can tell me because we are one and whatever you know may end up being something I know.  It's just inevitable since we're together all the time .  It's harder to keep secrets from your spouse.  You should also tell me if it will end in danger  or someone else's life."

Proverbs 11:13 ESV

Ephesians 4:29 ESV

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

Proverbs 21:23 ESV

Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble.

Genesis 2:24 ESV

Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Let me end this writng with a joke I heard.  It is: What do you call a cow that just had a baby?

Decaffeinated :D
