God Is No Genie ( Kerrie Roberts : No Matter What )

Who here has seen the movie "Aladdin" ? Or, maybe like me watched a little " I dream of Jeannie" shows as well? If you did, remember the genies in those viewings? The masters of these genies just had to rub the lamp and poof out came  a mythical being that could grant 1 or more wishes. Keep in mind, I really don't believe the reality of such things. We know it's all for our entertainment.

However, sometimes I find myself thinking God can be a genie.  When I am positive and believe the reality that no He is not! I did some research and got the exact definition of a genie from dictionary.com. It said a genie is " Islamic mythology; a spirit, often appearing in human form, that when summoned by a person carries out the wishes of the summoner." Just an interesting piece of the more you know type thing. 

God is not a genie. He is very far from it if you ask me. I think sometimes God is putting in my mind, he definitely is not a genie. He can make what I want to happen/ pray for, a reality.  But,  he is the master not me. So, I can pray till I am blue in the face for whatever, but we need to be satisfied with whatever God chooses. God gives the OK or Not OK!  So, I need to come to grips with and be absolutely ok with that otherwise, well let's not think of otherwise and just be cool with that right?

I can kind of imagine God looking at us as we pray and maybe he is thinking something like "Are you for real? Do you think I'm like a genie?" Perhaps, He may think that our prayers are more commands than prayers? I do not want that.  I think we just need to make sure that we somehow include in our prayers that His will be done. We need to let God know that we will be content with whatever He decides no matter what right?! God loves us and whatever He allows to happen in our lives is for the best. We need to believe that if we want to be able to live a life not filled with bitterness, and rage. God says he wants us to show love to one another right?  Life may be short lived, so why not live it for God!

This  song always makes me cry! Because, we all have our storms and really wish for calmer winds! But, man I've gone through so much, and people always ask me and wonder how I stay sane lol. Well,  God helps me! He is my answer and He can help you too if you ask Him!

James 4:3 ESV
