The Feet of Jesus

When I heard the sermon last week it really struck me. It made me think about my relationship with Christ and if I was in the situation of the woman who poured perfume on his feet and wiped them with her hair, would I do that? Part of me is thinking of course I would I love Jesus. But the reality is would I?

My pastor did some research on the price of the perfume that the woman used if we forward it to today's time. I was pretty shocked because it's pricey, friends.  The price of that perfume that the woman used was equivalent to today's time of $60,000.  So, I was thinking to myself would I put that expensive perfume on Jesus's feet, or would  I do something else that was more convenient for me and beneficial for me?

I think that's the problem for some of us. We focus too much on us and what's seriously more convenient for us. I don't know about you folks, but I find out the hard way sometimes that when I focus too much on my convenience, it just sometimes ends up bad. I guess I challenge you and me to think do I love Jesus enough to use a $60,000 bottle of perfume on his feet?

John 12:3 NIV

Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus' feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

John 12:25

Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
