Which one of you thinks gossip is a good thing? Which one of you loves to gossip? Now, let me ask you this. Which one of you loves to hear gossip?
My thought is first of all I don't think you guys ever really thought about it. Right? Well, did you know that the Lord pretty much despises gossip? He definitely does not want us to participate in the act of gossip.
When we think about it, don't you totally get, why the Lord would think that way? If you don't get the truth from the actual person involved, you're bound to only hear the truth that will be sugar coated or the opposite of sugar coated and pretty much just building up to lies.
Let me share an example. I'm definitely not going to call anyone out by embarrassing them, giving names or exact scenarios. Here we go. I know of someone who has become the center of attention for gossip. The word on the street is not so good. Yet, when it comes to directly speaking with the person being gossiped about, it is a lovely talk with smiles, and basically blatant lies.
Do you guys know what I'm talking about? Do you know where I am going with this? Better yet, does this sound really familiar to the point of you being able to relate to it?
Gossip really is not a good thing. God doesn't want you or me to participate in it. So stop doing it. You want to know the truth? Talk to the person that is involved. When you talk to the person, it is not your place to be telling this person what needs to be done. Talk to the person normally and lovingly. You just need to be a good listener. There's definitely no need to make who you're speaking with feel uncomfortable.
Folks, please think about what I said Perhaps, you already know what gossip has done for your own life or a loved one. If you are one who likes to spread gossip? Stop, and wait until you get it from the horse's mouth, so to speak. If you were one who would like to hear gossip? Stop the person from talking and say you would rather hear the truth from the actual person's mouth.
Friends, gossip should not be attractive. Remember comma God hates gossip because gossip hurts people period God doesn't want people to be hurt. Right? :-)
A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret.
