When Someone Is Motivated

Right now I'm thinking of my cat "Emerald Blue" aka E.B. Just a little story about her name. At first I wanted to name her Nelly and then put a band-aid on her. Oh, the 1990s. My parents wouldn't let me name her that because they had a friend named Nelly. Hence the name E.B was born. That was just a little reminder that popped in my head this morning.

Now, more then 14 years later we are just counting the days and waiting for EB to leave this earth and to take her final breath. I think the question that is on most people mind is this. Will EB go to heaven? Will any pet really go to heaven after they leave this earth? Isn't that saying, "All Dogs Go To Heaven" true?

Wouldn't people like to think so? That would be nice, I think. However, I don't think I can believe it totally because there's no mention of that in the Bible. I'm not saying that it is impossible. Remember, with God, anything is possible. There is mention in the Bible of God caring, loving and really all good things for his children. So. basically I'm saying since God knows our heart and if we are going to be happy with anything, including a pet, I really believe that he can provide it. Pay attention now. I didn't say he will but he can. He can do anything. HE IS GOD!

For today's writing, I would like to talk about being motivated. Let's use my cat, for an example. Like I said earlier, EB is a lot weaker than she was before. It's honestly old age that has become a part of her life. She is basically 80 something years old in cat years.

She normally doesn't run as fast (at least from when I see her). She doesn't eat like she used to. She does lick her food. Joe put some tuna in a bowl this morning and presented it to her. :-)

Last night she was sitting on the couch while we were watching the Warriors game. We found a little mess on the floor, and so we got hold of the Dust Buster. Immediately, when we turned it on it really seemed it like she was temporarily healed from any pain. There was no frustration on her face and how do you  run that fast when you can't feel the pain in your legs?  Because your mind is so busy thinking about the vacuum!

The deep thought I would like to make concerning us humans is this. When you are stuck with really bad news, (like with other people, or even yourself, it could be anything, it is your turn to fill in the blank) Make sure to fill your mind with good.  Think of the song by Julie Andrews. The song that with raindrops on roses and whiskers and kittens.  Basically, what I'm saying is think of your favorite things!

I am definitely not saying that is going to always be the remedy or rapid cure to any thought that is bad. However, it worked with EB and I know in the past I have seen that surge of power in my own life too. Friends, think about it when there is something that is motivating us to do something our minds will make us think of other things, temporarily.

So, I totally reiterate and totally stress that you should fill your mind with good thoughts. Perhaps, if you are a believer, fill your mind with Bible verses. Basically, thinking about something else when you are physically trying to do something difficult will help. Thinking about other good things when you are trying to get your mind off of a bad thing will help. Friends, I know what I'm talking about I'm a client of that.

Philippians 4:8 ESV

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
