I guess what I'm trying to get at is when our names are being said and used, our eyes and ears are pretty much glued and really like to see and listen to how it is being used. Maybe even other people around us feel entertained and curious to see how it is being used.
Is he hearing his name being used out of malice or any other negative way? Or, perhaps the rhythm is music to his ears because he is hearing his name praised and glorified? What am I talking about? I'm talking about God. I'm talking about God hearing how and when his name is being used.
Do we say the name of God out of blasphemy? Do we use the name of God because we're angry, frustrated, or any other worse feeling? You know. How about when we say God D----? Maybe out of anger or frustration we say the name, Jesus or Jesus Christ! Or, the very familiar and well-known popular saying that is really said out of surprise or any other emotion. You fill in the blank. I just hear it a lot. This phrase has now been popularized and has become very well-known and very much used acronym. Does "OMG"sound familiar? Is that phrase in your everyday vocabulary,?
I honestly do not think that God really likes to listen when his name is being blasphemed. Children of God, do you like to hear God's name being blasphemed?
I guess the Lord decided it was time to speak to my heart about something. Yesterday, I decided to be open and honest about how I truly felt when my husband would say out of feeling hurt or negatively use the name of God. It was weird, because I don't think I ever really cared before. I mean, I did a little. But not enough to like say anything. But, again this I think was the Holy Spirit's doing and pushing.
Yesterday, my loved ones were at the condo and we were watching a movie that had total profanity left, right, all around! I usually wouldn't mind if it was a few bad words here and there. I could tolerate it. But this time, I would have had to mute the whole movie! What would be the point of that?
All through my life, I'm going to come across people who do not agree with the way I view life and vice versa. That is okay because we are all different and that's the way God made us. I believe that God wants us to use our differences to be able to blend with one another and show them love.
Friends, we are not able to control how others will act. We just need to show them respect. I have certain loved ones that would apologize to me if they would swear around me. I appreciate that. Yesterday, I vaguely remembered that my husband swore because of something. Around breakfast, he apologized to me for swearing. I appreciated that as well. If I mess up and I swear, I need to remember to apologize as well. That is something I should work on. I need to remember to apologize when I swear. Oops.
Anyway back to the subject at hand. And that is, he hears it, AKA God hears it. I'm thinking when God hears his people, who he created, hurtfully mess with his name, he probably gets pretty sad. Wouldn't you? When you hear your name being totally messed with and blasphemed that makes you feel kind of icky.
Folks, I think we really need to focus on the name of Jesus being a beautiful name. This is the name of God. This is the name of the one who has offered us forgiveness and died for our sins so that we can have eternal life for eternity.
Remember that Jesus is a beautiful name that should only be said if it is being praised or being glorified!

You shall not swear by my name falsely, and so profane the name of your God: I am the Lord.
Isaiah 9:6 ESV
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
