Curse God and Die!

Wow, how do you like this title?  I'm guessing you have a mixture of emotions right now going on in your mind. What? Why is she talking about God dying and cursing God? Maybe this title is enticing you guys to read more? Well, here goes my thoughts on this title.

First thing I'm going to say is have you read the story of Job? Have you heard about the story of Job? Please take a little time and read what I shared at the bottom. So, basically the whole Curse God and die line is actually a quote from the Bible. Yes, it was from the wife of Job. Basically, the wife was telling Job can't he see all that God has negatively done to him, Job should just curse God and then die.

Those were words from Job's wife. I see so many things wrong with this situation. However, that's all I'm going to say about that. What I want to focus on for this writing is the extraordinary faith Job had in God and God's will for him to go through all this suffering. If you are one that God allows us to go through so much suffering with anything, God is allowing that because suffering strengthens your faith.

The story of Job includes him losing loved ones due to horrid deaths. Even Job himself was struck with horrible ailments. Please read the story describing how much more suffering this poor man went through.

To reiterate, his faith was totally opposite of wanting to curse God and then die. No, he would praise God. Would you be able to do that? I don't think I'd be able to do that. Well, at least not immediately. Who knows maybe not even ever? Let's fast forward to the times of today. When your loved one dies, or you are struck with horrible ailments that will bring you to your death a lot sooner than you had hoped. Or something worse? When anything like that happens, how do you feel? Well, besides being in question of why God would allow bad stuff to happen to you.  He didn't do them to you per say. I think there was a conversation between Satan and God and the end result was God allowed it.

The bottom line is if we are going through that bad stuff and suffering from whatever, we need to be like Job. Remember what I said in an earlier passage? We need to be mindful that suffering will strengthen us in our faith and relationship and just everything with God! Don't you guys want that? I want that. I'm probably not as close to that as Job was. Folks, we need to examine ourselves and learn from the example of Job and his life and trust in God and His will for your life. :-)

Romans 5:3-5 ESV

More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

1 Peter 5:10 ESV

And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

James 1:2-4 ESV

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
