Know It Well

Now, what is Sam talking about? Know "what" well? Is that maybe what you readers are thinking? I'm talking about knowing the word of God well.

Why do I say that? Well one, and I think the most important thing, is because Satan has a way to manipulate and turn it around for his benefit. Basically, he has a way to make you end up turning to sin, without it. Does that make sense?

I remember one time many years ago speaking to this man and we ended up talking about the word of God. Now, he wasn't a born again Christian. And, he said he knew everything about the Bible and to ask him anything. Well, I was a little dumbfounded because I was like thinking if he knew everything about the Bible then wouldn't he know you must be born again Christian in order to enter the kingdom of God? I didn't say anything because I didn't want to embarrass him.

Check out this little story from the Bible. It's pretty cool if I do say so myself. :-) I'm thinking of when Jesus was in the desert and the devil came and tried to tempt him.  The devil knew that Jesus was hungry. So he said why don't you turn this rock into bread? You know you can do it and are hungry. Jesus' response to him was "It is written, man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes out of the mouth from the mouth of God."

Then the devil said to him why don't you Bow Down and Worship me? And Jesus responded with, "It is written, you shall worship the Lord God only. Only him You Shall Serve."

Then the devil really tried to be smart and said to Jesus why doesn't he just cast himself out of there, he knows the Angels will catch him! Satan was totally utilizing scripture out of it's context. Jesus, however responded with it has been said. "You shall not tempt the Lord your God." Jesus was totally referring to the true meaning of that which Satan was trying to manipulate him with a line the Lord did say in the Bible and taking it out of true context.

See, knowing the sword of the spirit totally will only benefit you. As Pastor Greg Laurie says, "time to draw your sword fellow Christian!"

2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

Psalm 119:105 ESV

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Joshua 1:8 ESV

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
