In the past Joe stayed with his auntie and was with his older sister (ate) a lot. His mom and dad were away with his brother. I don't really remember all the details. You would have to ask Joe LOL.
From the stories I've heard from Joe, he was a really good little brother (most of the time). I wouldn't be able to tell you how they were feeling not being reunited with their parents at such a young age, but Joe was a good brother. I remember him telling me he would, of course, be playing his G.I. Joe's and all the masculine games little boys like playing with. However, when his sister was playing with her Barbies, Joe is right there willing to be Ken. :-)
What I remember was, basically, Joe and his sister were staying with his auntie Fe and they were separated from his Mom, Dad and Brother because they were working abroad to support the family. Their brother was still very small so they had to take him with them. See how hard it is, folks, for people who actually grew up or born overseas but want to have a good future? Eventually they made it to the land of opportunity, the United States.
What his parents did was very admirable. I think my parents did something similar while actually having the mindset of providing a good future for their family just like Joe's parents did. So, because of that, I am so thankful.
I guess it kind of reminds me of the well-known siblings from the Bible, Lazarus, Mary, and Martha. When Lazarus died, Jesus was with their family. When Joe was alone with his sister and no brother or mom or dad, Jesus was with them as well!
I don't think I can imagine being away from my parents for so long at such a young age. I guess that's part of being an only child. I was really spoiled back then huh? LOL Joe and his sister may not have had their parents with them for a time, but Jesus was right there watching over them like they were his little kids. Jesus was there in disguise! Maybe, in the form of their loving aunt who took care of them like her own!
Encouraging thought of the day:
Jesus is always with us. Jesus in Disguise.
