Grace, Unexpected

Before I start my writing, I just want to give a shout out to Nathaniel and Carolyn. They were two people on the train that my caregiver gave a card to.  I pray you guys will be encouraged by my writings! Thank you for accepting the cards!

When I was younger, and I can't pick one particular incident, but I was a pretty spoiled, misbehaved, at times, child. The word "hard headed" or in my parents' dialect, "mashush ka buntok" was what I heard a lot. With an occasional knock on my head to prove the hardness.  I was an only child.  I was a daddy's girl. And, yes I was very spoiled. Even now, with Joe, I thank him for bringing me back to reality sometimes. He was a middle child, and was basically everything opposite of my upbringing.

Why do I share this you ask? Because, when I think about it, I was offered a lot of grace that was totally probably undeserved and certainly unexpected.

I think of the Bible story of Paul and Ananias. Paul used to be called Saul. Basically, Saul persecuted and basically hated the Christians. One day, God came to Saul in a vision and asked Saul why he was persecuting him. Then God took away his eyesight.

Then. God came to Ananias a prophet and called him to go to Saul for he was praying. Then Ananias told the Lord that Saul was basically killing anyone who would call on the name of Jesus. So, at first Ananias did not want to go touch him. However, Jesus said it again a few seconds later to go to Saul.

So, of course Ananias listened to Jesus and went to Saul and touched him and restored his sight. Now, that is grace unexpected. If someone was telling you you would die if you call on the name of Jesus, will you help them if they needed it by healing in the name of Jesus if they needed it? If so, now that would be some Grace unexpected!

PS   By the way, that man named Saul later became Paul, probably the greatest missionary in Christian history.  Grace unexpected, in turn, created another Grace unexpected!
