Genesis Series Part 17: He/She Always Wants It!

I guess only one thing is coming to mind right now that would kind of be relevant to the point I want to make this morning. Remember the Bible story of Sarah, Abraham's wife? She wasn't able to conceive. And she really wanted to in order to prolong her husband's bloodline.

Now remember Hagar? Sarah made her husband sleep with Hagar so she can have a baby! That story is pretty yucky right? This story was way in the beginning of Genesis.

Okay, what I want to talk about this morning is something I recently heard that was directed to myself, and later read in the Bible devotional. And, I found some relevance in this Genesis series. So, apparently God wants me to write about it!

Do you always want to be right? I mean I'm going to talk a little bit to the wives. Fellow wives, I've discovered from the reading of God's word from the preaching of my pastor from the reading of Bible devotionals.... I have discovered the word "meekness." Remember my other series I wrote before called the " Tongue" series? Anyway, wives remember we need to bite our tongue sometimes?

I know that being right makes you feel good inside. It probably boosts up your ego. And, it's double the pleasure when the other party tells you, you were right!

Fellow wives, I know how it goes. However, wives read this carefully and Sam read this carefully! Fela wives, if you do not want to hear the wrath of your husband, then you have got to suck it up bite your tongue and agree with whatever he says. He is right! I know you may not think he is but just for lack of a nicer word shut up. Let God speak to his heart because he does. In the like me, you will be amazed the difference.

Fellow wives, I know that you guys might forget. I forget that we are supposed to be submissive wives all time. I forget, then time goes by and I regret. Miscommunications or any harsh words might happen, uncontrollable tears may stream down your face. It may be mental or even physical pain. I don't know. All I know is this.

All that I do know, from experience is it will just be one huge mess. I don't know about you wives. But, for me I could do without the mess. I need to do without the mess. My husband hates mess.

It looked to me like Sarah thought she was right in doing what she was going to do. She wanted to be right. She just didn't trust God when that's all she needed to do. God is always right! Do we believe that? We need to believe that!

Proverbs 15:4 NIV

The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.

Colossians 3:18 NIV

Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
