Genesis Series Part 7: Is It Not The Sick Who Need A Doctor?

Before I start my writing, I would just like to give a shout out to Jennifer Brooks. My caregiver told me she gave one of my cards to her yesterday on the bus on her way home. I pray you will be encouraged by the writings!

This is a question for those of you who used to be in school or those of you who are still in school. I'm thinking High School. I guess what is coming to my mind right now is the word "cliques." Let me utilize my weird memory and try to remember. When I was in school there were the jocks, the cheerleaders who were known as the popular people.  Then we had the not so popular people. We had the nerds and geeky group. And then we had the group I was in which was pretty much the minority group, some of us were bad a--. I remember because we were in the minority we were really haters of our school. Lol wow, we were young and stupid LOL. Oh well.

Why am I sharing this? I guess that one group sticks out to me. I'm talking about the not so popular group. The geeks and the nerds. Jesus would have probably been totally cool with them. He would have easily befriended them, I bet. That is truly what Jesus is about. Befriending the outcasts. Right?

Like the story of him and the tax collectors. When the Pharisees saw that Jesus was chilling with the Tax Collectors, they were wondering what was up with that.  Jesus basically told them, "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick." Jesus' mission was to save and spread the message of God to the sinners, and many tax collectors. So, it doesn't matter who you are and what you are about. We are all sinners and we all need to be saved. Jesus understands that. Jesus offers us the gift of salvation. We just need to stop feeling sorry for ourselves if that's what we're doing and just accept it!

As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man called Matthew, sitting in the tax collector's booth; and He said to him, "Follow Me!" And he got up and followed Him. Then it happened that as Jesus was reclining at the table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were dining with Jesus and His disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, "Why is your Teacher eating with the tax collectors and sinners?" But when Jesus heard this, He said, But go and learn what this means: 'I desire compassion, and not sacrifice,' for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
