Genesis Series Part 38: Covenant

First off, good morning and I just want to say hello to Theresa Puckett. Aundrewell gave her one of my cards last night on the train on her way home. Jennifer, I pray that you will be encouraged by the writings and have a wonderful day today! Let's get to the writing!

Do you know what My title means? If you don't you're not stupid. I tell you what. Now, I know what it means. However, when I was first introduced to the word, I never really thought about it. Now recently, when my husband and I began this One Year Bible devotion, in the first week of January, the word came up again from a reading.

I know my husband is smart and he would be able to break it down for me in ways I will understand. Basically, what I mean is, he knows how my weird mind works and he knows how difficult it is for me, at times, to process or interpret information. Anyway, I asked him to define covenant in his words. I mean I knew that a covenant was kind of like a promise. However, he said kind of. He said a covenant is more significant and holy, I guess because it's a promise between you and God. Or, vice versa. I got it then.

Well, the Covenant in the Bible that we read was between God and Noah. Some of you may recall that God did something. He caused the biggest flood in the world to wipe out most of his creation. I'm thinking God was just sick of humans disrespecting him.

So, yea God can do that. But, because of a covenant he made with Noah, he promised that he would not do that ever again. However, just because he can't do the flood again doesn't mean he will not do other disasters that we're seeing today. And, as the end of the world draws closer, he says in his word we're bound to experience even more worldly disasters.

I have a thought. There's no truth to what I'm about to say, I was just wondering.  If everyone in the world came to know Jesus Christ as their personal savior, I wonder if God would make a covenant with us saying that he would never cause any more disasters. Just a thought. (Clears her throat) A deep thought!
