Genesis Series Part 63: Bad S&G

Good morning! Wait. Before I get into the writing today I just want to give a shout out to a couple of ladies I actually gave a card to on February 23. I know right!?  Sam is definitely on top of things when it comes to this. LOL. No, I just found in my drafts an email I sent to myself so I would remember to give these ladies a shout out. So...

Belated thank you to Amber and Jennifer for accepting my cards! Also, thank you to Rachel for telling them Sam needs a cup of hot water. I pray that you 3 ladies will be encouraged by my writings! Still, sorry for the delayed shout out.  Better late than never, right?

Today I'm going to be writing about the other characters in the book of Genesis that I almost forgot about. Yeah, I know right?  There are more characters besides the characters I've already been writing about all the time says my husband, who noticed!

First, fellow Christians, let me ask you guys something to ponder over.  Honestly, this is a question that I just think about sometimes.  Especially when it's happening. Let me explain.

Do you guys ever get asked by people who don't even believe in God for prayer?  They say can you pray to God for this or that? So-and-so? I know.  I'm with you.  I don't get it either! So these unbelievers don't believe in God yet they believe that God can heal their pain? Stop the shootings? Etc....etc......

That is just a puzzle to me! When something bad happens, the unbelievers may proclaim from the rooftop and sing praises to the heavenly father, like God Bless America. When something horrible happens those who were praising God are now condemning God.

Pause break. My caregiver just got here and she just told me that she just gave my card to this lady named Tiffany Johnson at 7-Eleven yesterday by her place. Tiffany, I pray you will be encouraged by the writings! Thank you for accepting my card!

Okay, pause break over. Back to the writings. As I was saying when something not so good happens in our world, it's like this world does a 180 on God. What do I mean? I mean like there may be a total downplay of hatred. People you probably never spoke to before will temporarily become your acquaintances something like that.

What I'm trying to get at is that people need prayer! You may admit it or not, but that is just the truth. Well, that is what I see, especially when something bad happens or is happening. I think you understand what I mean. Again, maybe you are an unbeliever and might be thinking, "why am I asking for prayer when I don't believe in God?" Don't ask me.  Remember that's my puzzle!

Well, anyway for my Genesis series I'm going to backtrack to other characters I totally forgot about. This one is going to be about Lot.  Lot was the nephew of Abraham.  I don't know too much about their relationship except that Abraham really cared for Lot.

Lot lived in Sodom.  Sodom and Gomorrah were two really evil cities.  Joe was telling me that Sodom and Gomorrah were known for a lot of bad things.  Mainly, however, it is known for its sexual immorality.  More specifically, it is known for homosexuality.  This is actually where the term "sodomy" came from.  This shows you how much God despises sexual immorality.

So, Lot and his family lived in that very evil place. Lot was the nephew of Abraham. Abraham was worried about his nephew. As he should have been. The question did he not want to leave?  Did Lot actually want to and did he leave?  I'll address those points in another writing.  I'm banking on that Lot would leave the horrible city of Sodom.

TBC...........

Genesis 13:10-12

Lot lifted up his eyes and saw all the valley of the Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere--this was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah--like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt as you go to Zoar.

Genesis 13:13

Now the men of Sodom were wicked exceedingly and sinners against the LORD.

Genesis 18:20-21

And the LORD said, "The outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah is indeed great, and their sin is exceedingly grave.
