Maybe you guys can remember when I mentioned before that I had a cat named Giddy, which is a nickname for Gideon. Yes I know that is a boy's name and I have a girl cat. Nothing abnormal with that! I have no idea what she went through before we got her, but whatever it is made her what she is today. I mean, this cat is pretty smart. Let me share something that I find to be pretty darn smart.
Every morning Joe microwaves the wet cat food that was in the fridge and feeds it to her. Then before we leave the house, he puts little hard circular crunchy munchies in her bowl so she has something during the day to snack on.
But, Giddy makes sure to not eat all of her crunchy munchies until she is sure someone will be home to give her more food. See if we go out she doesn't know if we're going to come back anytime soon so that's when she saves her food. Then, every time we get home in the afternoon, we see her run to her bowl and start eating her food, those crunchy munchies. Isn't that a smart thing to do?
That reminds me of the story of Joseph, the one about Pharaoh and the dreams that only Joseph could interpret. Basically, there was going to be a famine in the land after some years of plenty. The Lord was trying to tell Joseph to save up some grain so that they would have food when they would be struck by the famine.
Now, I have no idea if God spoke to my cat's brain. I wonder if he does that. Not to say that he can't if wanted to. In any case, what I get from this is that we need to be smart with what we have, especially when things are going well. We need to be prepared for the ups and downs of life. As a side note, it also tells us that, sometimes, God may choose to talk to us through our dreams. And, as an extra side lesson, this also reminds me that God also wants us to not only store treasures here, on earth, but more importantly, we must store treasures in heaven. Think of all those people Joseph helped with the extra grain he had. Maybe we should be like that when with our own possessions.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Proverbs 21:20 ESV
Precious treasure and oil are in a wise man's dwelling, but a foolish man devours it.
