Genesis Series Part 89: We Want That! Conclusion

I don't doubt that I am the only one who struggles with this sometimes. In my defense, I will say that when I do remember what the wise thing to do is, I do it. Other times, I don't. What is Sam talking about?

Most of us, if not all of us, want this. I'm talking about we always want to have the last word. Some of you might be shaking your head thinking, "No, I don't!" To that, I'll say, "why don't we think about that again?"  Oh gosh, if that is what we are truly aiming for when we are having that argument, usually or more than usual, it ends up bad. I'll give you an example.

Joe and I are arguing about something. Probably something I started lol. After much backlashing and usually one side yelling and one side crying, nothing is resolved. Usually, that happens because one of the sides wants to be right. One wants to end up having the last word.

Folks, it really should not be like that. We really should pray to the Lord and ask Him how to listen. Remember God spoke about not being nasty and harsh in our conversations with one another?  Well, when we are verbally fighting with someone, we end up realizing that this fight will not end until we get the last word. Or, the fight will not end until I get my way! He or she needs to see that my way is the right way and there is no other way so the other person'' thinking it must go away! Until that happens, the fight will continue. We need to pray for listening skills, I guess. And, pray that the Lord will help us really hold our tongue when we need to.

Today is finally the last day of this Genesis series! I'm imagining many characters in the book of Genesis arguing with God because, of course, they wanted the last word. However, we must realize, and really have pretty much embedded in our minds and in our hearts, that God is the one that will have the last word!

God will always be on the right. Folks, God is in control of where your last day is going to be. Do you guys know? If someone would ask you if you were going to die today and were standing in the Gates of Heaven and Saint Peter were to ask you why should I let you in? What would you say?

The End

Proverbs 15:1 ESV

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Ephesians 4:29 ESV

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
