WBBM.... I MISS YOU! 2003 Flashback

Happy Wednesday! Before I dive into my reading this morning I just want to give a shout out to two men who really helped me out this morning! First I dropped my bag I use for my garbage here at Starbucks. I saw these two men so I asked for help getting my bag. Then I thought wait a minute Jamieka, my caregiver wasn't here yet. Why don't I ask this man for hot water? Yay! Boo, I can't believe it, I ended up dropping my bag again! So I asked his friend sitting with him and he was super nice and he got my bag. Then I offered him a card and he went to give his friend a card  as well! Dudley and Jason I pray that you will be encouraged by the writings. Thanks again for all the help!
Today just had me in a total flashback of when I used to work at the radio station. Shortly after graduation from College, I started working at WBBM AM news radio as an assistant producer. I loved working at that job. Why I left? Young and stupid and wanted more pay! God had his plan for my life. I had other plans for my life. I guess I just spontaneously had the time order rearranged to fit my own comfort and convenience. Oops. Yeah well things happen. Right?

What I remember most from my time at BBM was this.Well, not only the awesome people I used to work with, the crazy work times arriving at McClurg Court at 3 a.m.  CBS Radio was down the hall from B96. I know BBM moved from where they used to be. I have no idea where they are now.

What I do remember was one news story about an incident at a jail and I can't remember specifics. However I do remember The Newsroom getting pretty hectic. The couple assistant producers working at the time were getting what they could and recording some tape and live feeds. We had to make note for the anchors if they were debriefers or actualities. We, assistant producers were the first step getting to writers and the producers and finally the anchors. We also needed to make sure 'sound' was going according to plan so the anchors were able to relay information to the devoted listeners.

While doing all that, at the same time assistant producers had to also pay very close attention to the time. We still had to call around and find lowest gas prices because we had to input the information on the computer for the anchors to say on the eights of every hour. Assistant producers also had to record the feed for the weather. I think at this time the weather guy was Paul Paschalok. He was from other states. We just had the machines to get it recorded so that the anchors can put it on air. Wow, just thinking about when I had the strength to do all of that! That was before! It makes me think and shake my head because there's no way I would be able to do that now! You had to be fast and very accurate. This was live Radio! Did I mention I also had the most awesome boss? And don't think he's news director anymore probably news anchor.

Perhaps, you guys are going through the same thing. Well, probably not exactly the same thing. Unless, you may be an assistant producer? That, I would not know. The term overwhelming comes to mind. Yeah, we may get into hectic overwhelming situations at times. However, we need to remember that even when things go crazy around us, friends sometimes you just need take a deep breath away, be still and know that God is with you! He knows how sick and overwhelmed you may be feeling.

He cares and he will help you! Just ask Him! That's it, time for Sam to stop being stubborn. Said excuse me to this man his name is Charlie. Thank you Charlie for getting me more hot water. And pray you will be encouraged by the the writings!
