God Is Able!

First off let me give a shout out to a man I asked for hot water for yesterday. He was sitting behind me. His name is Kirk. And, let me say hello to my caregiver's cousin, Kiara, who came yesterday to pick my caregiver up. I pray that you 2 people who I gave my card to yesterday will be encouraged by the writings!

Do you believe the title I gave my reading this morning? Do you have a specific person in mind or just any random people shouting, " God is able!" Now, let me ask you this. Do y'all know what it means when I'm saying God is able? What exactly is he able to do? What is up with this, " God is able" stuff?

Do you all remember the story in the Bible in the Book of Daniel about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego? Some of you may be thinking oh yeah or oh no or oh nothing. Well, let Sam tell you her deep thoughts about this. I think you will find it kind of interesting. I think. Well, I hope! :-)

In the Book of Daniel, there's a story about 3 men named Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. They were common men from the city of Babylon. They were under the rule of King Nebuchadnezzar. This King wanted people to bow down and Worship a golden idol. He wanted them to go down on their knees and Bow down to it as place of their God. Whoever did not bow down to it would be thrown into a fiery furnace.

Everyone bowed down to this golden idol except for three men. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. They did not bow down to this Golden Idol. They did not do it because the God of these three men was the same God as the God of Abraham, Isaac , and Jacob. The God who was called "I Am" was the only God they chose to worship!

Remember when I said about King Nebuchadnezzar throwing those who did not bow down to the golden idol into a fiery furnace? Well that's what happened with the three men. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. They were thrown into a fiery furnace. But, they did not get burned! How did that happen? That's really an interesting story. You all should read it. Remember it's in the Book of Daniel in the Bible!

Friends, God is able. I'm going to end this writing with some words from the three men from the Bible from our friends Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.

16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” Daniel 3:16

God was able. And God is able. God will always be able!
