Forgiving People

Apparently, there are some things in life that are really sinful. We should or shouldn't do, things and we end up doing them or not doing them. Maybe, because we're just sinful like that. Or, maybe it's because we really didn't know it was a sin?!

Have you guys heard of the story of teen high school students that were having a Bible study in Kentucky. Then when they were done spending time with God, as soon as they said Amen a 14 year old boy walked up to the group and pulled out a gun and shot 8 people.  3 of which died and the other 5 severely injured. This was around 1997.

One girl was told she would be a paraplegic for the rest of her life. Her name was Melissa Jenkins. When 15 year old Melissa was lying in her hospital bed she wanted to convey a message to the boy who shot her.

What do you think she wanted to tell him? Maybe ,"You will have your day coming!" Do you think Melissa wanted to curse this boy tell the boy she hated him?

Melissa wanted to tell this boy that  she forgave him for shooting her. I just thought of something it's really hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I guess what I mean is it's really hard to see that type of perspective. God allowed this horrible thing to happen to Melissa Jenkins. Because of what happened to her, many other people were probably encouraged by her wanting to forgive the boy who shot her. I don't know about you guys, but personally I felt so encouraged by her story. I pray that I would be able to emulate her act of faith when something really bad happens to me.

What this lady did was not a human natural thing to do. I'm talking about " forgiveness." Forgiving someone for doing something we think is totally unforgivable! It was a supernatural thing to do. Only a true born again Christian can do something like that. If you are a Christian like she is, then we have to learn to forgive as well.

How about us? I think I knew this in the back of my mind but the thought is kinda having a hard time going to the front of my mind. I'm talking about forgiveness. Did you know that to not forgive someone is a sin? Remember if you refuse to forgive someone who has sinned against you then you are sinning against God!

If we are true Christians then we should know how to forgive. And, if we say we are Christian but we don't forgive, a true born again Christian will question how much the other person really knows about Christianity.

Encouraging Thought Of The Day:

Folks, Jesus spoke of many lessons about forgiveness in the Bible.
