The Right Way To Pray

When you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen.

What? I totally disagreed with my title. Well, initially. Until I read someone else's thoughts regarding this topic. Then, it started to make sense a little bit more. My mind switched around from disagreed to agreed. Time to share my deep thoughts more.

I remember hearing someone complementing someone else on their prayer with a large crowd for a meal. I'm sure that made the person feel a little encouraged. That was nice for someone else to say.

Because one person sounds more sincere, eloquent, and has a big vocabulary, Let's ask ourselves this question this? Does that make their prayer better than someone who is totally opposite those things? Is there a speed up or volume enhanced in God's ears because of their presentation of their prayer?

Consider what the Bible says.

Matthew 6: 5 - 8 5 “When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get. 6 But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.

7 “When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. 8 Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!

First of all, I do agree with not being like the hypocrites and praying in public just to show off your skills in using big words when praying. Of course you can pray out in the open as well as privately in your room.

God certainly expresses how he feels about repeating and babbling on and on with your prayers. Don't think like the Gentiles do when they think that their prayers will be answered just because they keep repeating them over and over.

Prayer is a gift from God. He listens and hears what we need. Even if, sometimes, we just can't say anything, the Lord Jesus hears us through our tears that fall down our cheek.

Friends, remember our father knows exactly what we need before we even ask him. God doesn't require fancy, memorized prayers"Our Lord desires our prayers to begin and end with humility."
